WhatSUP in the community
Together we can Stand Up for the Community. Not just a slogan, it is our deepest belief.
WhatSUP is not a charity, and we do not rely on donations, but more sustainably - from each booking made we put a percentage aside to be able to give back to the community. Our instructors love nothing better than to help the community when they can.

WhatSUP is not a charity, and we do not rely on donations, but more sustainably - from each booking made we put a percentage aside to be able to give back to the community. Our instructors love nothing better than to help the community when they can.
This takes various forms:
- Corporate bookings and team building events, where the business that books enjoys the great outdoors with us, and also selects a beneficiary charity, who will be invited to come paddle boarding with us before or after the corporate event. The team that books can see directly what positive impact their choices are making. We obviously provide SUP activities, but also have links with other like-minded colleagues so can arrange additional outdoor activities too.
- Free paddle days for disadvantaged people. This would be organised through a charity/coordinator, who will then pass this opportunity on to their contacts in need. While social distancing is required in 2020-21, we would then introduce one household or "bubble" at a time to this wonderful sport. If you are a charity able to coordinate a day like this for multiple people or families, please get in touch! The sport is weather dependent, so we may require a little flexibility on dates, but we can pencil a date in the diary and organise from there.
- Paddling for all abilities. SUP is a very accessible sport, and can change anyone's perspective on what they can achieve. The impact that learning to paddle can have on anyone is immense. For smaller groups and individuals, we would encourage you to get in touch. That way, we can discuss the opportunities from both sides, and explain to you what to expect but also gain more information to consider site and water access on the different locations we paddle, availability of our instructors with further experience in youth work, medical or mental health fields, and if needed availability of different boards.
- We have also developed the ONLY wheelchair-adapted paddle board in the UK. This enables us to get more people on the water in Somerset. Alongside that, we have already trained other SU schools across the UK and supplied the same equipment to them, so that the service becomes more widely available. It is our dream that everyone and anyone will be able to enjoy this wonderful sport on the water local to them soon.
