Social distance paddling with your household and/or a household you have 'bubbled' with
Most people cannot wait to get out in the great outdoors again. You might also be looking for something fun to do with your whole household, but looking to limit the risk of virus infection. We now offer household-only paddle sessions (now allowing 'bubbles' too). SUPping is great fun for people of all ages and abilities. Our instructors are all experienced paddlers and love to teach, they will inspire confidence and everyone will be standing up on the boards soon. For those who want more we can teach more advanced paddling skills, or you might prefer to just relax and enjoy the lovely views from your board.
You will be kept save, both on the board as well as in regards to COVID-19, where we have taken all precautions we can. This means that while the pandemic is still a worry to us all, we do not work in our normal way where people are encouraged to come and chat to us and other like-minded people throughout the day.
We now accept pre-booked paddle sessions only, and only households/'bubbles' together. We stagger arrivals and keep to strict timings to ensure 'bubbles' do not mix with other 'bubbles'. When you arrive, you will first be asked to wash your hands. We will then instruct you on how to put on your life jacket, and grab a paddle, we will help everyone on the board (while keeping distance), and will then instruct you (if needed) to improve your paddling skills. At the end of your session we disinfect all equipment before the next household arrives.
A SUP board, paddle and life jacket is provided for everyone. You might want to wear comfortable clothing, and may want to bring a towel (rarely needed but you never know!). Staff will be present at the site at all times should you wish to leave carkeys etc.
Especially now we paddle in this way many people ask what the minimum age is. The age at which a child really starts to enjoy the adventure of paddling varies a little, but we do ask that they must be able to follow instructions, and be comfortable in the water should they fall in (they will be wearing a life jacket too).

Confirming health
When you book, we ask you to confirm that:
We also ask you to read the COVID-19 distancing rules we work with for WhatSUP events, and ask you to confirm you will abide by them and follow staff instructions.
- Nobody in your household (even if not paddling themselves) has shown any signs of COVID-19 in the 14 days before the event.
- Nobody in your household (even if not paddling themselves) has had CONTACT with anybody showing signs or testing positive for infection with COVID-19 in the 14 days before the event.

So... When, where, how to book?
All household/'bubble' sessions are in the daytime, and the vast majority are in the weekends (Sat/Sun) only because all our instructors are volunteers and have daytime jobs. Very occasionally we are able to plan in an extra weekday, especially in school holidays, and if we do we will announce this on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/WhatSupuk). If you have booked a session, but the weather forecast looks a bit too British (especially too windy can be a problem and not as much fun to SUP), we will contact you a few days before to cancel your booking (without cancellation charge of course). You can then rebook for another day if you like. It is a good idea to have a backup activity plan for the day of the booking, in case the weather lets us down!
We only accept pre-booked households/'bubbles', and use an online booking system for ease and so we do not have to handle cash. Book via the button below. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask us!
